Hello All
As the summer draws to a close for me, I begin to pack for school to begin my third year of training as an RA. I am so pumped to meet the new members of the Resident family as well as to continually learn new things as a person and leader.
It is never an easy task....being like a "parent" on campus. You need to enforce rules and make the extra effort to keep your residents liking you and constantly engaged for campus activities. It's really not that simple of a job that most people deem it to be.
I do love what I do. I manage to meet new great people, run an organized floor, make great programs, and listen well. That is very important. Being a good listener and someone with an open mind are pretty much key when it comes to working with others, especially with one's own residents.
Just thought I would put out the importance of resident advisors to a college campus! They do a lot behind the scenes!
